Open Source has come a long way from its rogue beginnings. Recently, Oracle announced its "Unbreakable Enterprise Linux," and Red Hat responded with its "Unfakeable Linux." Microsoft and Novell announced "Broad Collaboration on Windows and Linux Interoperability and Support" ... what's going on here?

Enterpriseleadership.org is joined by author and open source enthusiast Pete Loshin, who weighs in on recent (significant) happenings in the open source world. Pete discusses some of the evolution of the ongoing tension between legacy software and open source, the recent flurry of activity, and how (incredible as it may seem) that's an extension of what's been going on for years. At the root, says Loshin, is an implicit admission that Linux is a viable player for the enterprise, and that mainstream enterprises can now safely utilize open source alternatives.
